AMERICAN AIRLINES advises passengers using any electronic equipment to shutoff
WIFI & Bluetooth devices.

This request has been fairly recent. Within the last 6 months. I was on a
flight earlier in the year where when I started my machine, I was advised of a
wireless network available. Now when you're at 35,000 feet this is surprising.
Then I looked around, and connected to some poor soles unprotected machine for a
minute. Then I shut off my wireless card as I was running on battery and this
cuts my running time.

With the laptop set for maximum battery life, I get 4 1/2 hours. Enough for a
cross country flight, working time not flight time.
