What is in fg?  Is it "no" when it's not supposed to be?  Is it not "no"
when it is supposed to be?  When did it get set to the wrong value?

In other words, what is "not working"?

Or are you telling me that the if line is giving you the wrong result,
and filePro is saying fg="no" is false when it's really true?
