I am not attempting to slander ANYONE, but the first time I saw Bernie
in August 1975, there were rumors that he had made a similar
statement(request,??) to a female at the meeting that I was attending.
He and I had quite a discussion about the quality of the products being
purchased(since he was in charge of purchasing at that time) and
especially about certain portable tape cassette recorders that had a
really poor chassis design. I had worked for the company that patented
the chassis design and knew that the products had a really short life
span before they started to have serious problems that would not be
repairable because our own long term tests had shown that to be the
case. He was really entertaining to have a drink with though in spite of
the rumors that always seemed to spring up around him. Later became
president of Radio Shack, I believe. He also put on one heck of a show
at annual meetings.
