In previous versions, you could set that in your sshd-config, on the
server. That would be very similar to setting variables in /etc/profile.
What is new is this, for example. You can configure your sshd to allow you
to set your LPDEST variable (default printer). Now when you log in, your
SSH client (Anzio, for instance) can transmit your preferred setting:
LPDEST=boblaser
to the server. A different user, or even the same user connecting from a
different computer, could send a different value for LPDEST.
