IMPORT Changing File Names

I am using filePro 5.0.5 with Windows XP Professional

I would like to setup IMPORT processing that will allow me to import the same data into a file but from different source files having each source having a different name.

I believe: INPUT fn(8,*) "ENTER FILE NAME"

Will ask me for the file to be imported and assign the file name to fn.

I believe: IMPORT word merge=c:\directoryname\ (directoryname will always be the same as will the file type always be a .csv file from EXCEL)

Is the beginning of the IMPORT instruction but do not know how to get the file name held in variable fn (from the prompt) to be recognized as the file to import. I have tried: IMPORT word merge=c:\directoryname\ {fn. Got Bad Function Number error.

Also, is the filename limited to 8 characters? It seems when I use more than 8 I have trouble.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Art Moore
