I know you'll find this hard to believe, but on Tue, Aug 17, 2004 at 23:31 ,

I'd much rather have lights so I just didn't have to sit for four
days listening to radio - and then going to bed when it got dark.

The only thing that worked was a telephone - hard wired.  There
was running water but it had to be boiled. 

It would take more than what you described above to keep me going.
And the house doesn't have big windows so it's really very hard to
try to read during the day.

OTOH all my servers just kept running and running.   The fact
that there is a 1,250,000 W generator with a 6000 gallon fuel
tank keeping it running helps a lot.
