I was looking through the Aug 16th addition of e-week. On page 18 News &
analysis, there is an external hard drive from Micro solutions called Lockbox.
This drive comes uses fingerprint authentication for access. The drive has a
reader built into the top of the drive.

If they can get the cost of the sensors down, maybe a USB thumb drive will be
just that. Place your thumb on the sensor before it becomes active. Remove it
from the USB port and it's locked.

This is not such a bad idea. One of my clients found a USB drive on the sidewalk
outside his apartment last week.

By the way, I just received a gift from Microsoft for purchasing their Action
Pack. It is a 128MB Flash Drive. The one interesting fact in the manual
supplied - Times to read & write: 100,000 times.

Since the storage capacity of these devices are growing rapidly and the prices
are falling, this device will be obsolete by the time it reaches this capacity.
