It's our week to disagree with you, isn't it, Bob? :-)
It's *just barely* secure enough to use FTP for this if the machines in
question are linked via Virtual Private Nightmare, and not accessible
generally from the Internet at large.
It's much more secure, and not a whole lot harder, to use OpenSSH,
which is available as a custom package for OS 5.0.x, I believe
directly from Skunkware.
It does require you to set up PRNGD and make sure it stays running, but
it's well worth the effort.
And as always, "if you don't know what these things mean, pay someone
who does." :-)
