Is it just me, or did John Esak say:

That's the other thing...Kelly said that Opal is now -really- quiet
compared to how it was before. They're -supposed- to be really quiet,
these units. They've also got bigger fans than usual.

That's the one we got. $55 where we bought it from.
By comparison, we could have gotten a 400-watt for $100 at CompUSA. I said
screw that, and went over to this other place. Same place that's given me
great deals on a number of items, from my IBM UltraStor, to Win98se. One
time I had just been to inCompetantUSA and bought an EIDE cable for $17.
It was a Belkin. I needed something they didn't have so I stopped over at
this other place (they happened to be open--they're only open 10-6, so we
can't catch them as easily as the major chain), and they sold me a better
quality cable for $3. I took the Belkin back to CompUSA unopened and saved
$15.
The time I bought the UltraStor, they saved me over $300. And the unit was
far superior to what I could have gotten at another shoppe (and the drive
is still in service).
I still say I -wasn't- out for the custom look. :) It was just a better
deal than the 450w they had. That's the cool thing too--they were the ones
that told me I could get a 480 cheaper than a 450, and that it was actually
a better unit. They could have just taken me for the extra $20. I've
always liked this place. I just wish their hours were a bit wider a window.
