Current versions of Linux with CUPS and the appropriate version of
ghostscript should just Do the Right Thing(tm) by piping the PDF through
the appropriate ``lp'' or ``lpr'' program. The current version of CUPS
supports all the normal SYSV printer commands including, but not limited
to, lp, lpstat, cancel, enable, accept, and lpadmin, and will use standard
SYSV printer interface scripts which can be much more efficient for
printers that still understand plain text input.

``Rights'' is a fictional abstraction. No one has ``Rights'', neither
machines nor flesh-and-blood. Persons... have opportunities, not rights,
which they use or do not use.
