I thought the A-10 derived from the Burroughs Large Systems (e.g. B-6800
family) which ran Burroughs MCP (Master Control Program), and where the
system was ALGOL based. My first serioua main frame work was on a
Burroughs B-5500, then I ran their Medium Systems B-2500 -> B-3800 systems
until I quit to race cars full time.

It was a tedious process of multiple fix passes, each time examining the
file to find where the next shift occurred.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common.
Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts
to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to
be one of the facts that needs altering.
