<DIV><SPAN class=366541705-25042005>Well, this is a public meeting that is
organized by the county...and by two anti-growth environmental activist
organizations, Futurewise (used-to-was 1000 Friends of Washington), <A

Friends of Piece County, <A

which is announces itself as "An Outgrowth of 1000 Friends of Washington".
I don't suppose we could get the feeling that Pierce County is leaning toward
the anti-growth policies of these two activist organizations, could
we?</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=366541705-25042005></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN class=366541705-25042005>We've noted the Futurwise "best available
science" (BAS) CD in the past...that's the CD that Futurewise advises
its allies to enter into the public record during the GMA and critical areas
update processes, so that their brand of BAS will be part of the public record
for appeals. Friends of Pierce County has something supporting the process
available on their site that you should download and add to your toolkit,
too. It helps you prepare testimony for the public process and for the
Hearing Examiner phase of public hearings. Although it's specific for
Pierce County, the tools and techniques it uses are applicable throughout the
state.</SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN class=366541705-25042005>There's a lot of good information
there. If this is what's going to be used against the landowners'
interests, shouldn't we not only be aware that it's out there, but take some
time to study their recommended process so that we can not only anticipate what
they are going to do, but also so that we can do it better?</SPAN></DIV>
